The Networking People (TNP) are proud to announce the successful deployment of a new 30km fibre optic network across Lancaster, Morecambe, and Heysham, in partnership with Lancaster City Council. This state-of-the-art digital infrastructure will deliver ultra-fast, secure, and cost-effective connectivity to public sector organisations, businesses, and communities across the region.

Developed as part of the council’s digital strategy, the new network—designed, built, and supported by TNP—ensures that Lancaster remains at the forefront of digital innovation while providing long-term benefits for the local economy and public services.

Empowering the Public Sector and Local Businesses

The new fibre infrastructure will provide high-capacity, low-latency connectivity to local government offices, schools, the NHS, emergency services, and other public sector organisations. By reducing reliance on expensive third-party networks, this project will significantly cut operational costs, enabling the reinvestment of savings into essential public services.

The network also supports businesses across the district, providing them with access to a reliable and affordable digital backbone through cooperative internet service providers. This connectivity is crucial for digital transformation, business growth, and innovation, strengthening Lancaster’s position as a tech-driven hub.

A Collaborative Approach to Digital Transformation

The project has been delivered in partnership with Cooperative Network Infrastructure (CNI) ensuring that key public sector institutions such as Lancashire County Council, local police forces, and NHS organisations can benefit from this next-generation infrastructure.

Additionally, the initiative has been supported by local businesses, further reinforcing the council’s commitment to community wealth-building and economic resilience.

A Word from TNP

Commenting on the project, Scott Daniels, Managing Director at The Networking People (TNP), said:

"We are thrilled to have partnered with Lancaster City Council to deliver a high-performance fibre optic network that will transform digital connectivity across the district. This investment will not only benefit the public sector but also provide businesses and communities with the infrastructure they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. At TNP, we are committed to building smarter, more resilient networks, and this project is a perfect example of that in action.”
